You’ve gotten out your thank you cards and are ready to begin filling them out for the ones you love. But your mind draws a blank.
What should you say?
What would be meaningful for the recipient?
How should you word your message?
I know it can be overwhelming to know what kind of a messages you should put in your thank you cards, but it doesn’t have to be. I love writing. It’s one of the reasons I started this blog – to have an excuse to put words together to communicate my thoughts. But if you’re one of those who has trouble putting your thoughts into written form, here are some suggestions for messages for your thank you cards.
But first, some tips.
#1. Be genuine. Don’t just copy one of the messages below. Tailor it for the recipient. Make it your own.
#2. Be specific. It shows more thought and appreciation when your message is specific rather than generalized. Writing “thank you so much for the warm socks and new throw for our couch” is much better than “thanks for the gifts”.
#3. Be timely. Late is better than never (within reason) when it comes to thank you cards, but try to send them within a reasonable time period. What is a reasonable time period? That depends on your situation, but getting them out within a month or so would be best.
